About this event

The ASID Texas Chapter Dallas Design Community invites Designers, Educators, Industry Partner Representatives and Affiliate Members to help introduce our ASID Student Members to the real world of design at Student Symposium!

[Students, want to attend? You must register through the Student Symposium website.]

Student Symposium + Real World Design Week is a week-long ASID Texas Chapter-wide event that involves four days of Shadow Experiences (Monday, June 3-Thursday, June 6) and one day (Friday, June 7) of in-person group activities in our Design Communities.

We encourage you to attend and network/interact with our students, but you do not have to participate in the full day if it doesn't accommodate your schedule. [Note that this is not actually an online event; rather, there are three events taking place at two locations, so be sure you go to the right place. See details below.]

Activities for Designers, Educators, Industry Partner Representatives and Affiliate Members to participate in on Friday, June 7th:

11:30 AM - 12:30 PM | An Interior Design Conversation

What: Cultivate curiosity and get comfortable with failure. Mingle with fellow design enthusiasts, enjoy refreshments and gain valuable insights as students and industry leaders come together to discuss the things that are most important to the future of young interior designers. Plus, discover the power embracing vendor relationships and collaboration over competition. Presented by Brianne Bowers, Trade Representative at Sub-Zero, and an ASID Designer member TBA.
Where: Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove [3707 Lemmon Avenue, Dallas, TX 75219]

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM | Ask Me Anything (AMA) “Live”

What: Sit down with us as we ask a panel of interior designers and industry experts ANYTHING. Students will be encouraged to submit questions beforehand and to ask our panel anything in real time. We’ll talk about successes, struggles, industry-insider secrets, and just about anything else you can think of: our designers’ morning coffee orders or dream celebrity clients? We’re spilling the tea here.
Where: Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove [3707 Lemmon Avenue, Dallas, TX 75219]

3:30 PM - 5:30 PM | After Party

What: Come celebrate the conclusion of Student Symposium + Real World Design Week with Happy Hour!
Where: Arsin Rug Gallery [Dallas Design Center, 1025 North Stemmons Freeway, Suite 747, Dallas, TX 75207]

The Dallas Design Community is one of five design communities that make up the ASID Texas Chapter, which is part of the larger American Society of Interior Designers [ASID], a community of people – designers, industry representatives, educators and students – committed to interior design. Through education, knowledge sharing and advocacy, the Society strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively impact and change people’s lives. Of the Society’s 24,000 Practitioners, 20% practice Residential design, 30% practice Commercial design, and 50% practice both. The ASID Texas Chapter represents 1,700+ Practitioner, Educator, Student and Industry Representative members (almost 1,100 of which are Practitioners and/or Educators) throughout the state of Texas excluding the greater Houston area, which is covered by the ASID Texas Gulf Coast Chapter. Since the Texas Chapter is quite large both in membership and in geographic expanse, most of the programming throughout the year takes place in the Design CommunitiesAustin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and West Texas. Our members work in both the residential and commercial fields, either as sole proprietors or as part of small or large firms. Within the state and around the world, they provide valuable services and useful products to their clients. Our members strive to improve the quality of life for all of their clients through the creation of aesthetically pleasing, thoughtful design that takes into account the health, safety and welfare of the public.
